4.Methods and Modes of Learning

        The overseas master students' orientation program should be the responsibility of the student's mentor, or be guided by a mentor-based subcommittee. The subcommittee should be nominated by the mentors and approved by the relevant schools in terms of their research fields and subjects. It should be composed of 2-5 associate professors and professional teachers, and mentors as the leading role. The mentors, with the help of the subcommittee, will guide the course of study, the research project and the dissertation. The relevant schools and the subcommittee will guide the student in obtaining his master’s degree.

      The program should aim to foster students’ abilities to do scientific work independently and creatively and, to learn by themselves, and to analyze and solve practical problems through the combination of theoretical study and scientific research. Students should be encouraged to participate in academic activities, to commit themselves to topic selected for the thesis and to be engaged in independent and exploring research. For those students who lack practical experience and expertise in interdisciplinary studies, mentors and schools, should help them to facilitate their further studies.

5.Curriculum Credits

     Overseas students in master's programs must complete at least 34 credits, including 24 points in the courses concerned, 10 credits in other sessions (5 credits for professional practice, 5 credits for social practice). Students must obtain the required credits in accordance with the requirements of the master’s program, prior to their thesis defense.

六、实践环节(Supervised  Practica)

1.专业实践（5学分）  

Professional Practicum（5 credits）

专业实践是留学硕士研究生培养过程的重要环节，通过实践环节应达到：基本熟悉本行业工作流程和相关职业及技术规范，具备一定的产品开发和技术创新能力。实践内容可根据不同实践形式由导师决定。实践结束后完成《西安工业大学留学硕士研究生专业实践报告》，归入学籍档案。

Professional practice is an important part of the orientation program for overseas students. Through practice, students should be familiar with the flow charge, related professional and technical specifications, and possess certain abilities to develop products and hi-tech innovation. The professional practice also could be a comprehensive experiment. The contents could be decided by the mentor in different forms.

 The "Practical Report on the Master’s Program of Overseas Students of XATU" should be filed into students' archives after the practicum comes to a close.

    各学院应制订专业实践考评细则，加强对留学硕士研究生专业实践的管理与考核，实践相关材料应认真整理、归档保存。

     Schools will formulate their own detailed regulations of professional practice evaluations.  They should strengthen the administration and assessment of the professional practice, and will carefully organize and archive all relevant reports.

2.     社会实践环节（5 学分）

Social Practicum （5 credits）

    留学硕士研究生应完成教育实践、社会实践、学术活动、学校文化体育活动、等培养环节，具体要求按学校相关文件规定执行，国际教育学院根据具体情况制订管理细则。社会实践结束后完成《西安工业大学留学硕士研究生社会实践报告》，归入学籍档案。

    Overseas students should complete all their practica, like teaching practice, social internship, academic activities as well as cultural and sports activities on campus, according to the specific requirements stipulated by the relevant rules and regulations of XATU. The schools of International Education will formulate rules for the administration of the master’s program in combination with specific conditions. The "Social Practice Report of XATU" should be preserved in students’ archives after the completion of their social practica.

七、学位论文（The Dissertation Process） 

按照西安工业大学硕士学位论文相关管理办法执行。   

The process should abide by the relevant provisions of the Dissertation of Master's Program regulated by Xi'an Technological University.
